The Road to Success is not straight: There is a curve called failure, a loop called confusion, speed bumps called friends, caution lights called family, and you will have flats called jobs. But, if you have a spare called determination, an engine called perseverance, insurance called faith, and a driver called God, you will make it to a place called success!

CHARICE PEMPENGCO

Truly, Charice's popularity and stardom is unstoppable. She has ben through a lot of setbacks and struggles yet she managed to take at it though as it were challenges. With a passion that fanned her burning desire to achieve her dreams plus the hardwork, and the support of her mother, the once farfetched mirage has finally became within her reach.

Can I just say that Charice is so bongga?

I'm not making up stories her okay but her first appearance on MTB ( a local noontime show in the Philippines) was not the first time I saw her. I even witnessed her singing prowess and vocal abilities LIVE on a school program when she sang "dakilang lahi" by Ciara Sotto. Charice was a special guest and I was one of the student performers. She was really young then but as what Ellen and Oprah were trying to fathom, you would really think how in the world did that small body obtain such strong and powerful voice?

I knew then that her talent will really get her somewhere and I was not mistaken. My mom and I where rooting for her on the TV shows especially on "Little Big Star". We were even SOOOOO disappointed when she only ended up third during the grand finals.

Anyway, just I've mentioned, good thing Charice didn't give up her dreams. I was right about her voice getting her somewhere..I mean internationally. I just watched her life story at MMK last night and I was so touched. I am so proud of her being a Filipino and a home-grown Santa Rosa Teen.

Keep it up!

P.S. the reason why I was so touched during the MMK is because of the scene where Charice changed the word "man" to "mom" in the song: And I am telling you I'm not going. That is just so sweeet!

I didn't know that Falsevoice (the person behind Charice's youtube vids) is a male. Good Job, bro!

Useful Information - ATM card

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your PIN number in reverse order. For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.

The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

NERI AT SSS?

Believe me, one of the things that I hate most during my tenure at our company is to look at my payslip. Aside from the disputes that might arise from incorrect log-ins, it pains me to see again those "all-time" mandatory deductions. Whether we like it or not, it will forever be there, slashing your gross pay. The withholding tax and Pag-ibig gets almost two thousand bucks from my earnings. Ooops, I almost forgot. Including the deductions is the Social Security System (SSS). That two thousand bucks would have sufficed my internet addiction. -sigh-

I've read from a certain periodical that the current SSS administrator resigned from her post. Corazon de la Paz, whom I've heard as a woman of great leadership and reforms submitted her resignation last June.

During those 7 years of her administration it was said that de la Paz was able to raise good funds for the said institution. A bright woman indeed.

What scares me now is the thought of Romulo Neri replacing her post. Not to be biased here, I believe that Romulo NEri was "somehow" able to manage NEDA very well until the ZTE scandal plunged into controversy.

I can't stand to see someone whose integrity has been questioned and doubted to spearhead such institution. I might not be well versed with the yada yadas of SSS or what can it benefit me but as a payer, I am also concerned.

We might not know what the real picture behind the resignation and replacement was but I do hope that they would act and think for the benefit of all and not just for selfish reasons.

AND THE WINNER IS...

Venezuela made it once again after the victory in 1996 as Dayana Mendoza, 22, was crowned Miss Universe 2008.

Dayana received the crown from her predecessor, Riyo Mori of Japan. Dayana was being kidnapped in her hometown and she says that this ordeal made her strong and remain poised even under pressure.

USA gathered another attention as Crystle Stewart became the second Miss USA in a row to fall down during the Miss Universe pageant. She tumbled during the evening gown competition just like Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith.

Both ladies stood up after the fall as if nothing happened.

Majority of the Final five candidates were from Latin America: Miss Mexico, Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Colombia and Miss Venezuela. Finishing the elite five was Miss Russia.

Miss Mexico finished as fourth runner up, followed by Miss Russia. Miss Dominican Republic ended up as second runner up. Miss Colombia finished second behind Mendoza.

Miss Thailand won the best national Costume and Miss El Salvador as Miss Congeniality.

Talk show host Jerry Springer and Spice girl Melanie Brown hosted the said event held in Vietnam.

NEW LAYOUT!!!

I am kinda fed up with my previous layout so I have decided to switch on another. This one looks nicer and more neat than my previous one. Well, to tell you honestly guys the other reason is that my blog was just recently denied by xxxx. (haha). It's an opportunity slash money making slash social networking site. They said that mine is a photoblog (Yeah, they are correct) and I don't have enough posts this past 90 days (Again, yes, I admit. I've become so busy I didn't have the time to put stuff). I'll just resubmit my blog again. Hope you enjoy the new layout! Cheers!

HAND CARVED LOVE......

An incredible love story has come out of China recently and managed to touch the world.
It is a story of a man and an older woman who ran off to live and love each other in peace
for over half a century.
The 70-year-old Chinese man who hand-carved over 6,000 stairs up a mountain for his
80-year-old wife has passed away in the cave which has been the couple's home for the last
50 years. Over 50 years ago, Liu Guojiang a 19 year-old boy, fell in love with a 29 year-old
widowed mother named Xu Chaoqin..

In a twist worthy of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, friends and relatives criticized
the relationship because of the age difference and the fact that Xu already had children.

At that time, it was unacceptable and immoral for a young man to love
an older woman.. To avoid the market gossip and the scorn of their communities,
the couple decided to elope and lived in a cave in Jiangjin County
in Southern ChongQing Municipality .

In the beginning, life was harsh as hey had nothing, no electricity or even food.
They had to eat grass and roots they found in the mountain, and Liu made a
kerosene lamp that they used to light up their lives.

Xu felt that she had tied Liu down and repeatedly asked him, 'Are you regretful?
Liu always replied, 'As long as we are industrious, life will improve.'

In the second year of living in the mountain, Liu began and continued for over 50 years,
to hand-carve the steps so that his wife could get down the mountain easily.

Half a century later in 2001, a group of adventurers were exploring the forest and
were surprised to find the elderly couple and the over 6,000 hand-carved steps.
Liu MingSheng, one of their seven children said, 'My parents loved each other so much,
they have lived in seclusion for over 50 years and never been apart a single day.
He hand carved more than 6,000 steps over the years for my mother's convenience,
although she doesn't go down the mountain that much.'

The couple had lived in peace for over 50 years until last week. Liu, now 72 years,
returned from his daily farm work and collapsed. Xu sat and prayed with her husband as
he passed away in her arms. So in love with Xu, was Liu, that no one was able to release the grip he had
on his wife's hand even after he had passed away.

'You promised me you'll take care of me, you'll always be with me until the day I died,
now you left before me, how am I going to live without you?'

Xu spent days softly repeating this sentence and touching her husband's black coffin
with tears rolling down her cheeks.

In 2006, their story became one of the top 10 love stories from China , collected by the
Chinese Women Weekly. The local government has decided to preserve the love ladder
and the place they lived as a museum, so this love story can live forever.
